Bahia Honda State Park, is located on one of the Islands, through which passes the world-famous road across the ocean to the southernmost point of the United States on behalf of Key west (key West). Thence to key West can be reached in 25-40, depending on the number of cars on the road. In Bahia Honda, there are places for camping, but they must be in advance to book and pay for through the site. Need to bring their tents, you can rent a place for a cabin on wheels or just the House. On the site you can see all the options. Also there is a public toilet and shower. All very cleanly inside and you can use free of charge. White sand on the beach, Nice. But I constantly stretch and annoyances of transparent white bugs (jumping bugs) that look like bots and jump like grasshoppers. A great number of them on the sand, which is closer to the water and they are everywhere. I personally could not normally lie down and sunbathe) only on the rocks or away from water on the grass. In addition to the crystal clear water, there are excursions on motor boats for diving and snokerlinga. I myself didn't went, but many were delighted, saying that many beautiful animals we saw. Many there are swimming, kayaking, someone is angling. The prices of products in the shops and cafes are not So cheap. bring better food! And be sure your camera! Because sunsets and sunrises there stunning and yet there is a stunned bridge with panoramic views of the expensive and ocean, and another for the entire Park. I advise to go there at least 3 days, and preferably longer. Count day will go on a road trip. Because the road from Miami Beach takes approximately 3-4 hours, sometimes longer (depending on the day of the week and jams). And travel better at dawn to spend more time in the Park. A great place to relax at all as a company and for a romantic trip for two!

This park is definitely worth a visit it is beautiful. The beach is small but the ocean is perfect. There are some beautiful views if you walk to the bridge. We were in the ocean when 3 dolphins joine...  more »

We love this park. Way to Key West. Like most of the park than Key West itself. Amazing place to spend the day with family. We don't know all park because we were with kids and want to enjoy only the beach. Has barbecues foot in the sand, clean public toilets, bath showers, and a cafeteria. We love!

Really lovely park. Beautiful beaches with nice snorkeling. Wish we hadn't wasted time searching for good beaches on Key West and just headed here. Drive was about 40 min but totally worth it. We didn't get to walk any of the trails because it was raining but they seemed nice. Could easily spend the whole day here and not run out of things to do.

OK, I get that wide, sandy beaches in the Keys just aren't happening... but because of all the "best beach ever!" reviews I was still expecting a bit more. Not lifeguards, not concessions, but more BEACH, more sand. We found a 3 ft wide strip of sand with rocks/plants on one side and 3 ft strip of seaweed/Seagram's on the other side; then the ocean. Since our strip of sand was also the walking path, it was not at all restful. The water color was great & temperature was warm. The bottom was sand with patches of rocks and plants. We didn't come to the Keys for the prime purpose of catching sun on the beach but thought it would be a nice break based on the glowing reviews from others. Didn't happen for us. Won't be going back. A much better place to go is Sombrero Beach in Marathon. Genuine beach space, great water, shower rinses, shaded picnic tables & a kids' playground. Trust me, do it.

No dogs on the beach! Period! Unless you reserve a campsite (a year in advance) of course and then they can only hang around the campsites. But the rules say that there are designated dog areas in the state park. You would think since the whole damn thing is a beach, that it means that there is an area of the beach where dogs can be. NO, NOT THE BEACH. No, "designated" areas do not include an inch of the beach at all, just some of the trails. I drove three hours to come to find this information out. I wish the website were more clear. I could ask for my money back as I leave this place, but that would waste MORE of my time. Otherwise, enjoy THE BEACH... WITHOUT YOUR DOG.

Great place to snorkel and catch some marine life. It does have lots of sea grass and it is all in its natural state. There are no lifeguards but as long as you stay out of the channels you should have no problems. Definitely bring your goggles and snorkel along with a kayak to have a great time.

A beautiful beach that has that real beach smell and dive and gift shops. You can also go to the old Bahia Honda bridge and learn about the history of the park which kid LOVE. I have been going since I was six years old and still enjoy the natural feel of the beach. The best spots come if you walk a bit. My only problem is that in spring Portuguese Man of Wars come and wash on shore and it always gets me kind of nervous but they are almost harmless and you can't really prevent it so it is ok. Overall I would recommend this beach to someone who wants a real beach and not a beach that has been altered.
