#1 of 247 in Parks in Maine
Perched upon Mount Desert Island in one of Maine's most popular parks, Cadillac Mountain is replete with hiking trails and scenery. The mountain, standing 470 m (1,528 ft) high, is one of the tallest on the United States' eastern seaboard. Here, you can get a glimpse of distant Canadian Nova Scotia in clear weather. You can either hike or drive the 5.6 km (3.5 mi) long road to the summit, which features views of the Porcupine Islands and ocean. Multiple viewing points and pullout spots are available along the way. Be sure to keep your eyes open for the park's signature granite slabs and rock formations rising from the ground. • Cars to the summit! Great views but over crowded and full of tourists. Take hike to another peak and enjoy without the people everywhere.  more »

  • Top tourist spot in Acadia national park and rightly so. This place offers majestic view of the park. You can see stunning sunrise and sunset. I had stayed back for sunset (check the west facing overlook). The all around Panasonic view is just amazing. Enjoyed couple of hours. Not enough Parking here. Highly recommended when visiting Acadia ! Nice place to visit with groups, family or alone.
  • Cadillac Mountain is a must see place when in Acadia National Park. The nice thing is that you can drive to the top (well pretty darn close). The views are beautiful and if you are ambitious, you can join many others in the 'Sunrise Club' and watch as the first rays of the rising sun strike the mountain welcoming a new day.
  • My wife and I stopped for our Anniversary would go back in a heart beat. Breath taking views
  • Beautiful place to watch the sunrise with 1000 of your closest friends. Plan on arriving to the parking area at least 30-45 minutes before the sunrise. Consider parking at the Blue Hill Overlook just before the top of the mountain for an easier in/out. Bring a thermos of coffee and enjoy!
  • A MUST see while in Acadia and definitely for the sunrise. Even though you have to wake up early it's definitely worth it. Also visit not during the sunrise to take in the views as well. It will be very crowded for the sunrise so prepare and arrive early for parking.
