Founded in 1869 by the British, Lesotho's main city--Maseru--lies on the border with South Africa on a plateau surrounded by red hills.
Get out of town with these interesting Maseru side-trips: Maletsunyane Falls (in Semonkong), Morija Museum & Archives (in Morija) and Gates of Paradise Pass (in Malealea). The adventure continues: take in the awesome beauty at Maluti Mountains, admire the engineering at Mohale Dam, steep yourself in history at Ha Kome Cave Houses, and look for gifts at Lesotho Co-operative Handicrafts.

To see photos, where to stay, ratings, and more tourist information, refer to the Maseru day trip planner.

Kasane, Botswana to Maseru is an approximately 6-hour flight. You can also do a combination of car and flight; or drive. Traveling from Kasane in December, things will get a bit cooler in Maseru: highs are around 30°C and lows about 20°C. On the 19th (Tue), you're off tohome.
