Monument Valley

Monument Valley is a region of the Colorado Plateau characterized by a cluster of vast sandstone buttes, the largest reaching 1000ft above the valley floor. Escape the urban bustle at Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park and Comb Ridge. Venture out of the city with trips to Bluff Fort Historic Site (in Bluff) and Mexican Hat (Valley of the Gods, Muley Point Overlook, & more). There's still lots to do: take a memorable drive along Moki Dugway, see the interesting displays at Goulding’s Trading Post Museum., look for gifts at Navajo Jewelry and Design, and make a trip to Forrest Gump Point.

Atlanta to Monument Valley is an approximately 9.5-hour combination of flight and car. You can also drive; or do a combination of bus, train, and car. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 2 hours traveling from Atlanta to Monument Valley. Traveling from Atlanta in May, things will get a bit cooler in Monument Valley: highs are around 73°F and lows about 44°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 31st (Thu) to allow enough time to drive to Moab.

The gateway to Utah's popular canyon country, Moab sits engulfed in the middle of desert wilderness.
Step out of the city life by going to Dead Horse Point State Park and Corona Arch. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Moab: Arches National Park (Fiery Furnace, Delicate Arch, & more). There's still lots to do: explore the striking landscape at Double Arch, stroll through Windows, take a memorable drive along Potash Road, and head off-road at local off-road trails.

Getting from Monument Valley to Moab by car takes about 3.5 hours. In May, daily temperatures in Moab can reach 78°F, while at night they dip to 49°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 7th (Thu) so you can go by car to Canyonlands National Park.

Canyonlands National Park features myriad canyons and buttes that the Colorado River, Green River, and their tributaries have carved over millions of years in hues of red and orange.
Step out of the city life by going to Mesa Arch and The Edge of the Cedars State Park. Get out of town with these interesting Canyonlands National Park side-trips: Blanding (Natural Bridges National Monument & The Dinosaur Museum). Green River is a city in Emery County, Utah, United States. Get outdoors at Little Wild Horse Canyon and Goblin Valley State Park. Capitol Reef National Park

Capitol Reef National Park takes its name from a particularly rugged and scenic section of the Waterpocket Fold, a geologic "wrinkle" stretching for 160 km (100 mi) along a dry plateau surrounded by white Navajo sandstone cliffs and domes, and red canyons, buttes, and rock bridges.
Get outdoors at Capitol Reef National Park and Strike Valley Overlook. And it doesn't end there: stroll through Goosenecks Overlook, trek along The Hickman Bridge Trail, cruise along Grand Wash, and steep yourself in history at Gifford Homestead.

Escalante

Escalante is a city in Garfield County, Utah, United States located along Utah Scenic Byway 12 in the south central part of the state. Escape the urban bustle at Calf Creek Falls Recreation Area and Devils Garden. Take a break from Escalante with a short trip to Anasazi State Park Museum in Boulder, about 40 minutes away. There's lots more to do: take in nature's colorful creations at Devil's Garden, immerse yourself in nature at Escalante Petrified Forest State Park, take in the dramatic natural features at Peekaboo Gulch, and get engrossed in the history at Escalante Heritage Center.

Bryce Canyon National Park

You can find hoodoos--rock pillars formed by erosion--all around the world, but those of Bryce Canyon National Park remain the standard bearers thanks to their bright red color, tall stature, and arrangement in large amphitheaters.
Get outdoors at Navajo/Queens Garden Loop and Peek-A-Boo Loop. Change things up with a short trip to Kodachrome Basin State Park in Cannonville (about 42 minutes away). Spend the 25th (Mon) exploring nature at Fairyland Loop Trail. There's lots more to do: trek along Navajo Loop Trail, explore the striking landscape at Wall Street, look for gifts at Ruby's Inn Canyon Rock Shop, and admire all the interesting features of Rainbow Point.

Kanab is a city in and the county seat of Kane County, Utah, United States. Escape the urban bustle at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary and Paria River Canyon. Utah's capital and most populous city, Salt Lake City boasts a small-town feel, big-city amenities, and plenty of nature on its doorstep.
Step out of the city life by going to Deer Valley Resort and Park City Mountain Resort.
