Toronto Islands, Toronto

4.7
#1 of 7 in Nature in Toronto
Escape the busy downtown by visiting Toronto Islands, where you can bask on pleasant beaches and explore several historical landmarks. The park's three small islands offer plenty of trails where you can stretch your legs and get some fresh air. Amusement rides ensure suitable entertainment for families with kids, while a lighthouse--the oldest landmark in the city--draws photographers, architecture fans, and history buffs. Other activities include cycling, canoeing, kayaking, and picnicking. Ferries accommodate recreational cyclists, but if you'd rather travel lightly, rent a bike on the main Centre Island. • A week after Labour Day. Took the TO Islands Ferry to Centre island and enjoyed a walk through to the pier and then to Hanlans point. We should have taken bikes, even though you can hire from the Cent...  more »
  • Toronto Islands are beautiful and that's where you'll find the best view of the Toronto city skyline. Go to explore or to escape the urban city! Rent a bicycle or go on a bicycle tour -- it's the best...  more »
  • Toronto Island is a wonderful space for a stroll. But, if it is in the summer, you have to go early so you don't get so much queue if you want to rent a bike or any other vehicle to get around. The space is enoooorme, so if you really want to walk, prepare the legs and use a comfortable shoes! You can eat in, but take your bottle of water so you don't have to walk for miles to find a spot for lunch. Important: closes in winter because the waters rise.

  • Great island park with an even better view of the city. Great for family get togethers, picnics.
  • Great economical trip for the family, Can spend as much or little time as you want, while still feeling you escaped the hustle of the city. Bike rentals are a strong suggestion as they are an amazing little way to check out the entire island quickly. They also have 4 seaters but they are a bit heavy on the cycling when you only have 1-2 people peddling. Perfect for a picnic looking at the city.
  • the best place where to view the Toronto skyline can be reached by boat in 15 minutes. this place must be seen. a walk on the island is also a very good activity
  • I love this place! There are ample amount of things to do. Not only park but you can have beach experience as well. Lot of activities to do and very happening place. A must visit place in Toronto!
  • The wait to buy the ticket and waiting to board the boat was long, but the boat ride to the island was very fast and you are treated to a great view of the skyline. (If your time is limited and willing to send a few more dollars per person you can use the water taxi to cross the water without waiting the long lines, the return trip on the boat to Toronto is free, regardless of you took it out there or not.) Toronto Island is a nice oasis from the city with great view looking back into the skyline, so much greens, fun things to do for people of all ages. If you are a tourist like us, Toronto Island is a must stop for half a day. Best advice is walk across the island (10 minutes or less) rent a bike and discover the place without getting tired.

Where to stay in Toronto

Most visitors stay in the historic neighborhood of Old Toronto, as the central district offers unparalleled access to the best attractions in the city and several metro stations within walking distance. If you're looking for a different taste of Toronto, stay in the trendy neighborhoods of West Queen West or King West Village, popular for their nightlife, arts, and cafe scenes. You can embrace Toronto's multicultural charms by staying in Chinatown, perhaps the city's best location for foodies.
