Casa Loma, Toronto

4.2
#2 of 433 in Museums in Ontario
Constructed at the beginning of the 20th century in the Gothic Revival style, Casa Loma represents the city's only castle. The midtown landmark once served as the formal residence of financier Henry Mill Pellat, known for helping bring hydroelectric power to Toronto. Originally the largest private home in Canada, the grandiose 98-room castle now acts as a museum, often used for wedding ceremonies and movie shoots. Choose between several themed guided tours, or pick up a digital audio guide at the entrance and explore the castle and gardens on your own. Using our international travel planner, Toronto attractions like Casa Loma can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • I treated a friend to one of the three Escape Room events at Casa Loma. The fun was limited to an hour after briefing the players of rules and objectives. As the teams scoured for clues, actors provid...  more »
  • The building is very nice and special for Canada. The original rooms give a good view on the life in 1920. The exhibits on the upper floor could be arranged much better.  more »
  • Hm it was partly my fault and Google's. Since the sun was kinda bright I only input 'Casa Loma' in the Google maps search bar and it gave me a spot. We walked and walked and arrived at a residential a...  more »

  • This was really cool! It was interesting seeing how a "billionaire" in today's standards would have lived. Really enjoyed the medicine cabinets which still had the original first aid items. Makes you think if you had a similar amount of wealth, would you have a similar sort of life style? In the end it was an awesome experience and would recommend it!
  • What a beautiful castle in a beautiful location. Loved the hand held speaker phones that told about each of the rooms and exhibits. Parking lot was filled so we had to park on the street which was only 1 hour parking, but that's about the correct amount of time you spend in a place like this. Fun experience and loved exploring all the rooms by ourselves. Everything seemed so natural and back in the time except for the basement. Wish the basement had been kept in it's original form instead of being transformed into a super hero lair. Kind of felt out of place with the cardboard cut outs and lights neat the kitchen. The gift shop was nice, though.
  • best museum in Toronto. I now it is a bit pricey but is definitively worthy. You can see a different part of the Canadian history and culture. I was not expecting to find this in the city. Plus the view from the tower is great too. you should try it.
  • Amazing castle and history. I was lucky that the day I was there, they had all kinds of special events: magic show, ice skating, Christmas lights, Christmas concert... i am not sure how frequently they do special events, but if you happen to catch one, you are lucky because it has so much fun. You should borrow an audio device there(free) to help you go through the whole castle, because it explains everything in detail.
  • It's really a good place to go! An adult ticket is 30 per person. There are not only good design and furniture but also some activities and shows, like magic show and dancing. Children will absolutely love here, they can get makeup on their face and listen to the story. Recommend! Will come back when I have a chance.

Where to stay in Toronto

Most visitors stay in the historic neighborhood of Old Toronto, as the central district offers unparalleled access to the best attractions in the city and several metro stations within walking distance. If you're looking for a different taste of Toronto, stay in the trendy neighborhoods of West Queen West or King West Village, popular for their nightlife, arts, and cafe scenes. You can embrace Toronto's multicultural charms by staying in Chinatown, perhaps the city's best location for foodies.
