Johnson GEO CENTRE, St. John's

4.3
For a fun and educational experience, head to Johnson GEO CENTRE, a science and geology museum on Signal Hill. Overlooking St. John's, most of the museum building actually sits underground, with walls of exposed hill rock adding to the atmosphere. See a wide range of minerals, rocks, and fossils, admire the massive solar system replica, watch a 3D movie about the earth, or view the exhibits about the Titanic tragedy. Among the many interactive and interesting displays, you can learn about Canada's nature, history, and space exploration efforts. • Only science center in st. Johns Decent exhibits You'd see most of them at a different science centers in other locations
  • A must see location for locals and tourists! You get to see the geology of the area. A centre dedicated to science, got to love it!
  • Some staff are rude, others great, nice venue for events but the GeoCentre sign stays on in the main event area so kind of takes away the mood of why you are there
  • Great place to let kids of all ages explore an interactive space with neat exhibits that are changed regularly. Probably one of the most ominous venue space in the city with a great 3D replica of the planets hanging above you and great staff bringing your event together
  • Exhibits are new and interesting. I particularly liked the Titanic and space exhibits. Every corner of the building has things to read/view. Also offers guided tours in sections.

Where to stay in St. John's

To appreciate the history and colorful architecture of North America's oldest colonial city, there's no better place to stay than in the city center. This popular neighborhood displays the city's iconic, brightly painted Victorian houses, with a selection of guesthouses and inns clustered around Government House. Staying just west of the city center, near the Memorial University of Newfoundland, works as a pleasant alternative, with the expansive Pippy Park right at your doorstep.
